Report: Serie A club adamant on keeping hold of breakthrough midfield star amidst Liverpool interest

Napoli keen on keeping hold of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia amidst interest from Liverpool

Serie A giants Napoli are adamant about keeping a hold of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia amidst interest from Liverpool and other Premier League clubs.

The Italian club’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has made his feeling clear about keeping the 21-year-old via DAZN via Football Italia (h/t Liverpool Echo). The Georgia international is having a breakthrough season with Gli Azzurri.

Liverpool are one of the clubs keeping an eye on Kvaratskhelia, according to Calciomercato via LFC Transfer Room (h/t Liverpool.com). The 21-year-old made his way to Naples in the recent transfer window from Dinamo Batumi in Georgia.

In his debut Serie A campaign, the forward has taken Italy by storm with his displays. The youngster has been the standout player in an impressive Napoli team. Gli Azzurri currently sit at the top of the league.

Kvaratskhelia has been vital for Napoli

Kvaratskhelia has featured in almost every game for Luciano Spalletti’s team. In 15 appearances in the current campaign in all competitions, the youngster has scored seven goals and provided eight assists.

The Georgian has been deployed on the left wing. And Liverpool have experienced the 21-year-old’s quality first-hand. The forward featured against the Reds on matchday one of the group stages in the Champions League and got an assist in the 4-1 victory for the Italians.

Liverpool have been on a downward spiral this season. We have been inconsistent from back to front. And the Reds’ usually potent attack has faltered under Jurgen Klopp in the current campaign.

Luis Diaz, who has missed the last few weeks due to an injury, has been the only forward fans have not been disappointed with. Roberto Firmino has also performed well. Unfortunately, the likes of Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah have been underwhelming.

While Kvaratskhelia has been scintillating in the initial stages of the campaign, it remains to be seen whether the youngster can keep this up for the rest of the season. It would be wise for Liverpool to see how he develops in the next few years and then decide on making a move.
