Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler urges Jurgen Klopp to sign Declan Rice

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has urged Jurgen Klopp to sign West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice. The midfielder has interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

Rice has established himself as one of the best in the middle of the park and is now a regular for both club and country. The 23-year-old was also phenomenal during his side’s 1-0 loss against the Reds last week.

Now, Fowler, while speaking on Fair Betting Sites (h/t Liverpool Echo), has urged his former side to sign the England international and believes he would ‘fit the bill.’

“Another player who I really like is Declan Rice, he fits into a Liverpool mould. Rice is a player I’d like Liverpool to sign, not to be disrespectful to West Ham, but Rice will be a name on the top of many top teams’ lists whether that’s in the summer or January. Rice has been class for a few years now and you can see why clubs want him, but for me, he fits the mould of a Liverpool player.”

It would be a wise move for the Reds to be able to secure the signature of the midfielder. The likes of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner all see their contracts expiring next summer.

Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara are in their 30s, with the latter having problems staying fit throughout the season. Young and energetic players are needed and Rice would fit such a bill.

Liverpool have young and talented midfielders like Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliot. Adding Rice could not only make it one of the best up-and-coming midfield, but also secure that department for years to come.

The 23-year-old can also slot in as a centre-back whenever required, helping in adding depth to that department too. The midfielder has huge potential in him and he has shown that over the years at all levels.

It remains to be seen if the club does make an offer for the midfielder either in January or next season. Just 23, he would without any doubt make a fine addition to the Reds.
