Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp talks about Fabinho and his current form
Fabinho has come under the scanner this season in the league following Liverpool FC’s poor form in the season but Jurgen Klopp believes the player is back on the right track. The Brazilian defensive midfielder has not looked at his best, and that has been a major reason why the Reds have looked like a shadow of their past this season.
Perhaps, the 29-year-old is suffering from fatigue with the number of games the Reds’ have played over the past year or so. Given the prominent role he plays in the team, it is somewhat understandable. However, the former Monaco man has been extremely disappointing this season.
Against Napoli, he was sharp and intercepted multiple passes all game. Fabinho was good with his passing as well and looked much more assertive than he has been of late.
Speaking to the press ahead of this Sunday’s game vs Tottenham, the Liverpool gaffer spoke about Fabinho and his game against Napoli via Liverpool Echo:
“The game was a clear sign of how we know Fab. A good game, defended all positions on a different level to week before, so it felt good for him and very important for him. A good start in the right direction.”
An excellent game against one of Europe’s most in-form teams comes at just the right moment for the Brazil international who could also start ahead of Casemiro for his national team at the World Cup.
Fabinho getting back to his best for Liverpool
Slowly but steadily, Fabinho needs to maintain a certain level of consistency before the international break. It will help get results for the Merseysiders as well, starting on Sunday against Antonio Conte’s men.
Klopp with his words is also trying to infuse more confidence in the player, but certainly, Liverpool would be wise to sign a midfielder or two to cover for the former AS Monaco man, who since his time at Liverpool, has not had a proper like-to-like challenger or back-up for his position.
Liverpool’s #3 is one of the Reds’ most important players and his excellent gameplay in stages of transition comes in very handy for the Merseysiders. Hopefully, he is back to top form by the weekend, and we can see a flurry of wins heading into the second half of the season.
