Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate makes younger brother claim about summer signing Fabio Carvalho
Liverpool player Ibrahima Konate, while on a FIFA 23-game session with Darwin Nunez via Liverpool’s Youtube Channel (h/t Liverpool Echo) admits his love for ‘younger brother’ Fabio Carvalho and made a claim about the youngster starting for his national team.
Carvalho has enjoyed a promising start to life at Liverpool. While he is yet to hit top gear, there is every reason to believe that the Reds have a real talent on their hands.
“I have to put Fabio in the squad because he is my little brother. He will start because I love him.”
Liverpool is known for the close relationship between players and clearly, Konate wants to play the role of a big brother and help Carvalho settle in his new surroundings, having made the move from Fulham this year.
He is repeating the trick that another Liverpool player would have given the Frenchman, who joined last year from RB Leipzig and was an instant hit among fans and teammates.
Konate choosing Carvalho in the national team was a bitter moment as only a few days, Carvalhal communicated his desire to the Portugal Football Association that he does not want to represent Portugal at the national level anymore.
Players of dual nationality have the option of choosing between the two countries for representation and are also allowed to change the representation until a senior appearance is made.
Carvalho, having only represented Portugal at the youth level, decided to stop playing for Portugal presumably because he was not selected for the Portugal FIFA World Cup squad.
His decision has now left the door open for England to swoop in the highly-rated young talent who has been impressive since his move to Liverpool and has not looked out of place in a team filled with superstars.
