Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur could use Ivan Perisic to pip Liverpool in race for Marcelo Brozovic

Tottenham Hotspur could use their wing-back Ivan Perisic to pip Liverpool in the race for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. The midfielder has been linked with a move to both the club along with Manchester United.

According to Mondo Calcio (h/t Express), Spurs are leading the race for the 30-year-old midfielder. And Antonio Conte could use Perisic’s relationship with Brozovic to convince him to move to north London.

Both the players have spent time together at Inter Milan and are also important players for their country Croatia. Conte is believed to want to use this bond for his and his team’s benefit.

Liverpool are in desperate need to reinforce their midfield. Jurgen Klopp has an ageing midfield as compared to other Premier League teams and that has cost us dearly this season.

Fabinho, who has been crucial for us in the past, has not been himself this season. He is the only defensive midfielder in the team, the only department that does have any natural reinforcement.

While Brozovic is 30, he is still on top of his game and has been crucial for his team this season. The midfielder has played in 12 games so far this season in all competitions, scoring two goals in the process.

Adding the Croatian international would help in increasing the depth of the team, while also providing competition to players. The Croat is likely to feature for his country at the World Cup and decent performances there could entice the Reds to make a move for him in January.
