Plettenberg: Liverpool keeping track of 21-year-old midfielder as Jude Bellingham alternative

Liverpool keeping tabs on Moises Caicedo as Jude Bellingham alternative

According to popular German journalist Florian Plettenberg, as quoted by Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are keeping tabs on Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo as a cheaper alternative to Jude Bellingham.

It’s no new news that Liverpool are interested in signing Bellingham but he will definitely not come cheap. Dortmund are supposedly demanding in the range of €100-150m but the Reds are not willing to splash mad cash to sign the Englishman.

Hence, Liverpool are said to be analysing other options that would come cheaper but still help us reinforce our underperforming midfield and one player on top of that list is Ecuadorian midfielder, Moises Caicedo.

Whilst Plettenberg did confirm that Bellingham is still the priority and will be the first option to be pursued, but if the Dortmund midfielder is out of their budget, they are analysing their other options.

Dortmund know they have a potential golden goose in Jude Bellingham with a number of English clubs wanting the player. It will be a surprise if they back down from their asking price as they very well know that a bidding war can ensue for the player.

Bellingham is a player who has been growing from strength to strength with every passing game. He is one of England’s main players at the World Cup and has a ceiling that is almost impossible to imagine.

However, if Liverpool indeed are unable to land Bellingham, then Moises Caicedo will not be a bad alternative. The Brighton midfielder has been very impressive for club and country alike and has a huge future in the game.

Whilst Bellingham and Caicedo are definitely not similar players, both of them add their own strengths to the Liverpool midfield and in a very ideal world, the Reds could do with adding both of them to their team.

More Liverpool News:

Bellingham is our priority and must continue to be so. However, it is always smart to think of alternatives and Caicedo will be as good a signing if he is the chosen one. The Ecuadorian is a strong presence on the ball and is a smooth player in attack when in possession.

Under Klopp, the 21-year-old’s potential will know no height. It does, however, seem hard to get him easily as well, given Brighton would very well know his value, especially once he has played at a World Cup.
