Gary Neville backs “outstanding” Liverpool superstar to help his team win 2022 World Cup

Gary Neville predicts Brazil to win the World Cup, calls Liverpool goalie Alisson ‘Outstanding’

One could hardly deny the positive impact Alisson Becker has made on the Liverpool squad ever since he joined the Reds back in 2018. At the time, the most expensive goalkeeper in the world, he has proved to be worth every single penny the Merseysiders have spent on him.

The Reds have won every possible trophy club football has to offer with Alisson in the sticks. He has been hugely instrumental in Liverpool’s recent success. Currently, on National Duty for Brazil in the World Cup, the player has yet to concede a goal and has been exceptional.

Tite’s squad has been media favourites to lift the trophy. Former Manchester United captain and pundit Gary Neville has had his say on the matter as well, with Brazil his favourites to get their hands on the coveted title too.

Speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast, he believed Alisson will have a big role to play in Brazil’s success in Qatar. They will play Cameroon in their final group game on 2nd December and one would expect them to have a smooth sail through to the knockouts.

“I said Brazil at the start of the tournament, and you wonder whether Brazil are just purring nicely. The big two of Marquinhos and Thiago Silva are very, very good, Casemiro is very good, so they have that base, and the goalkeeper is outstanding and will save 1v1’s. So you still think it’s them [who will win it].”

Moreover, Brazil’s rock-solid defence has also ensured that Alisson has not yet had a shot on target to face. But nonetheless, the former AS Roma keeper has been particularly exceptional with his distribution.

Alisson to win the World Cup?

His form has not been shocking, at least for Liverpool fans to say the least. Ali has undeniably carried the Reds this season with his outstanding shot-stopping abilities. Without his services, the Reds would have struggled furthermore in their league campaign.

There is absolutely no doubt that he will be extremely crucial for whatever team he plays, whether that is Brazil or Liverpool, and hopefully, he carries this form for a long time and brings glory to his nation.

More Liverpool News:

Liverpool have another representative in Brazil’s squad, Fabinho. The last time Liverpool players won the World Cup was back in 2010 when Fernando Torress and Pepe Reina did it for Spain. Hopefully, Ali and Fab do it for the Samba Boys this time around.
