Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold denies fans’ Jude Bellingham theory

Transfer News: Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has denied fans’ Jude Bellingham theory

Liverpool and England international Trent Alexander-Arnold has denied the fans’ theory about him playing the role of an agent to get Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham to sign for the club.

The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for the 19-year-old midfielder for some time now. They are not alone in their pursuit and are expected to face competition from Manchester City and Chelsea.

On Thursday, Trent posted a picture on his social media of himself and Bellingham enjoying the sites in Doha, Qatar. This post led to speculations that the right-back may be trying to convince the midfielder to make a move to Merseyside.

However, the 24-year-old defender has denied such rumours stating that he was just trying to enjoy some off time with his friend. This is what the Liverpool man had to say on BB 5Live (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“I’m just going out with my mate, aren’t I? Everyone [is] saying ‘Agent Trent’, but no. We went out, a few of us yesterday, we were given the day off so had a decent day out. We just decided to get a pic, you know.”

“World Cups are a once in a lifetime really, or at least a couple times in a lifetime. Not many people can say they have been to them. So it’s good to get some pictures on board and stuff like that. So that’s what we tried to do.”

Bellingham is currently one of the most sought-after players in Europe. The 19-year-old has been incredible for both club and country this season and it is not surprising to see top European clubs show interest in him.

Jurgen Klopp is in need to fix his midfield. An ageing midfield couple with players struggling to stay fit has cost us dearly this season and the same cannot continue in the second half of the season.

The German club will likely keep hold of the midfielder this January, but the same cannot be said for next summer. With so many clubs interested in him, it won’t be a bad idea for the club to actually use Trent to help convince the midfielder to join us.

More Liverpool News:

It remains to be seen if the Reds do enlist the help of their defender to use his friendship and give us an edge in the pursuit of the midfielder. There is hardly a Reds fan that would not want him to come to the club.

‘Bellingham 8’ just sounds right. But there would be a number of hurdles in the way – a player of his ilk is rarely easy to sign.
