Liverpool back in the running to sign France World Cup hero Kylian Mbappe

Transfer News: Liverpool back in the running to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe

According to Spanish outlet Sport (h/t Mirror), Liverpool are back in the running to sign Paris Saint-Germain and France forward Kylian Mbappe.

The Reds are believed to eyeing a mega deal for the 24-year-old next summer. It is not surprising to see the links with us resurface, considering the World Cup that he just had.

Mbappe single-handily kept his side in the final as he scored a sensational hat-trick in the final to take the game to penalties. However, he could deliver the ultimate prize as despite converting his penalty, France lost 4-2 to Argentina in the penalty shoot-out, after the game ended 3-3.

He was heavily linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid during the summer. It was believed that he would sign for Los Blancos on a free transfer, but at the end signed a lucrative deal with PSG till 2025.

Surprisingly, it was later revealed that he is not happy at the Parisian club and will look to force a move in the January window. Liverpool were touted as a possible destination even then, with reports stating that the Merseyside club would offer Mohammed Salah in exchange for the 24-year-old.

Any coach would love to have a lethal forward like the Frenchman in their squad. The Golden Boot winner in Qatar, his pace is his biggest asset and he has not shied from using that to his advantage when he has taken to the field.

However, with this current deal running till 2025, his price is something that the Reds are unlikely to be able to afford. After all, PSG did pay £166 million back in 2018 and they would want to recoup as much as possible, with the forward only seeing his stock rise ever since.
