PSV open talks with Manchester United for Liverpool target Cody Gakpo

According to the Mirror, Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven have opened talks with Manchester United over a potential transfer for Liverpool target Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo is one of the most sought-after talents in the world. The talented winger has set the stage alight in the Dutch league and also showed what he is capable of on the biggest stage in the World Cup.

The PSV man had a unique record at the showpiece event in Qatar, scoring in each of his first three games in the competitions. It showed the clubs interested in him that he can do it on the biggest stage.

All this happened despite Netherland’s manager Louis van Gaal playing the talented winger out of position as a central forward and Gakpo still seemed to show absolutely no problems in that position.

It is being claimed that PSV might be willing to sell the talented Dutch winger for less than £50m due to their current financial situation and have opened talks with Man United regarding the same.

Liverpool are also very interested in signing the player and it remains to be seen if they now make a move and approach PSV to negotiate a deal considering they have opened talks with another club.

Gakpo has shown his versatility over this World Cup but he is predominantly a left-winger who loves to cut in from the right. We do have a number of options in that position but the Dutchman is a very good talent.

Klopp could choose to put the PSV forward through the middle like Van Gaal did in Qatar or he could also try and mould Gakpo into an unlikely right-wing replacement for Mohamed Salah in the future.

Man United seem to be ahead of us in the pursuit of Gakpo and it remains to be seen if we are able to do something about it. Let’s see how this goes. If anything, the 23-year-old showed at the World Cup in Qatar that he can be a deadly gamechanger on his day.
