Liverpool offered the chance to sign Belgian star with Anfield hat-trick to his name

Liverpool offered the chance to sign Brighton ace Leandro Trossard

According to CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs on Twitter (h/t Express), Liverpool have been offered the opportunity to land Brighton and Hove Albion star Leandro Trossard

. The Reds however have no interest in pursuing the 28-year-old.

The Belgian international has been an excellent player for the Seagulls, adding verve and panache to their attack in recent times. He caught the eye on Merseyside earlier this season after scoring a hattrick in the 3-3 draw at Anfield.

Primarily a left-winger, Trossard is capable of also donning the hat of a number 10 if required. His intelligence off the ball coupled with his technical prowess on it makes him an ideal Premier League player.

At 28, the Belgian isn’t just in the prime of his career but is also in the final months of his contract at The Amex. With Brighton yet to break ground regarding an extension, there is every reason to believe that Trossard could leave for free.

His agent is busy trying to drum up interest in his client’s services. Liverpool and Chelsea have both been offered the player. With the agent showing his aggressiveness, it is plausible that more parties might become privy to the offer in the coming weeks.

Thanks but no thanks!

Sadio Mane’s move to Bayern Munich coupled with injuries sustained by Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have left the left-wing options at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal appear featherlight.

While Trossard can help fill the void in January, the Reds have no interest in pursuing the Belgian. Liverpool have also reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven for Cody Gakpo

, meaning they have little need to bring in another player in Trossard’s role. The focus should now be on other areas such as the midfield.

Liverpool have a rebuild on their hands, especially in midfield. The frontline is now stacked with the imminent arrival of Gakpo and there is no need for fresher recruitments upfront anytime soon. Trossard would have been a nifty player but is not a necessity on Merseyside.

It is wise to utilise these funds and time elsewhere. Our attack would not be as effective as it could be without a world-class midfield behind it. An ageing, injury-prone and at times bland midfield can use instant upgrades. Jude Bellingham or Enzo Fernandez

would be ideal.
