“Time that we need”- Liverpool superstar hopeful that club can make the most of their time to prepare for Brighton

Alisson hopes Liverpool can utilise a full week of training ahead of Brighton in the FA Cup

Liverpool goalie Alisson Becker is easily the Reds’ best player this season. It often speaks levels when not even one outfield player is on the same tangent as the goalkeeper but such is the fact. Without the Brazilian in goal, the Reds would have been much lower in the table.

The Reds have kept two consecutive clean sheets across all competitions but it didn’t really count the second time as it ended in a goalless draw against Chelsea. However, small steps from this phase of bad results will eventually help the Reds climb up the table.

Between their last game and the next game, the Reds have a sizeable gap as Liverpool have a week’s rest after the Chelsea draw before they take on Brighton in the FA Cup in the Fourth Round.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Alisson spoke about how important it is to utilise this full week of training wisely to put in more hard work behind closed doors and here is what he said:

“Sometimes we [have to] just rest and we have to be ready for the next game, [to] just prepare for the next match and you cannot focus on improving technical things – you just talk and try to fix things by talking and showing some situations.

“But now this week we are going to have the time that we need to do that, and we have to use [it] and take it into the next game.”

Much needed rest for the Reds

The Reds have been struggling with poor form lately and a break could provide the team with some much-needed rest and recovery. This break could also give the team an opportunity to introspect and figure out where they have been going wrong.

Hopefully, the Reds, as Alisson says get enough rest or whatever they need in this one week to re-brush their skills and put in a good performance against a strong Brighton side in the FA Cup. The Seagulls are flying high, and given how Liverpool have not won against them yet this season, it is almost a matter of pride.

The Brazilian himself has been in excellent form, making key saves and commanding his area well. This break could give Alisson the opportunity to work on his skills and fine-tune his technique, making him an even more formidable last line of defence.

Moreover, it is not just the players that could benefit from this break, but the coaching staff as well. Liverpool’s managers and coaches will have time to review their strategies, identify areas that need improvement and come up with new ways to help the team win. Hopefully, we see something different from the usual 4-3-3 formation Jurgen Klopp likes.
