Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch to stay patient amid Liverpool links

According to a translated report from Kicker (h/t Liverpool Echo), Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is to remain patient in Germany amid links with Liverpool during the January transfer window.

The Dutch international has struggled for game time at Bayern ever since his move from Ajax last summer. He has only played a total of 570 minutes for the Bundesliga champions in all competitions this season so far.

A few days ago, Liverpool Echo

reported that Gravenberch’s agent was spotted at Anfield on Saturday. There were rumours that Liverpool wanted to sign the player on loan this month.

But, Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg rubbished the rumours and confirmed that the Dutchman is set to stay at Bayern till the summer and no transfer to Liverpool has been discussed.

To be honest, the rumours did not make any sense either. The 20-year-old joined Bayern last summer from Ajax for a deal worth around £16m, with the length of the contract being five years. So, despite the lack of game time in the first half of the season, the German champions wouldn’t give up on him so easily and early, would they?

We all know Liverpool are in dire need of midfield additions, both now and in the summer. It does seem unlikely that anything will be done this month. If that is to be the case, the chances of regaining form and finishing in the top four go down by a notch.
