“Such a talent”- Former PL boss backs Klopp to re-deploy this Liverpool superstar in new role

Sam Allardyce thinks Liverpool may be planning to use Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield soon

There have often been talks about Trent Alexander-Arnold turning up in a midfield three for Liverpool which could help negate the defensive vulnerabilities of the player which are often a point of discussion with the Scouser.

Most teams playing against the Reds mostly make their plays from the left side of the attack and target Trent, who until this season was not so great in defence. However, with a lot of work behind the scenes, the player seems much more rigid in that aspect even though it seems that he could still work on the same.

Sam Allardyce recently spoke about how putting the Scouser a little bit ahead of where he plays right now, either in a wing-back kind of position or in a midfield pivot. Big Sam is not the first and certainly not the last person to bring this point of view on the 24-year-old.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, the former England boss lavished praise on the 24-year-old, hailing his unique talents as a full-back but adding that he could do better in midfield:

“Jurgen has played him in the midfield a few times before now, and I just wonder whether he can actually go there and be great,”

“It wouldn’t bring up that defending side as much.

“He has the touch, and I know it’s harder in there rather than full-back, but he is such a talent.

“And unfortunately, he’s had a lot of stick and I think it’s knocked his confidence.”

Trent for the Reds

Trent’s ability on the ball and his crossing ability is certainly like a midfielder and obviously world-class, but the only somewhat vulnerable aspect of his game is his defending which understandably is at the forefront as he starts as a right-back.

However, apart from the odd game or two this season, the Liverpool academy graduate has been pretty much solid. The England international is also known for his work ethic and dedication to improvement, and he is determined to prove his critics wrong by showing that he can be a well-rounded player.

He has already shown signs of improvement in recent matches, and with continued hard work and dedication, he will be able to improve his defensive play and become an even more complete player.

More Liverpool News:

Alexander-Arnold is known for his exceptional crossing ability and attacking prowess and even though many have argued that his defensive play needs improvement, that certainly doesn’t mean that the player needs to switch positions.
