Adding to the list of players called back from their respective loan moves, Liverpool have decided to recall left-back Owen Beck from Bolton Wanderers. The 20-year-old made nine appearances across all competitions for The Trotters and is now on his way back to Merseyside.
Beck is a Welsh youth international who joined Liverpool’s Academy set-up at the Under-13 level. He worked his way up through the ranks and was eventually given the opportunity to play for the first team.
Before the loan move to Bolton, the Welsh youth international, who is the great-nephew of Liverpool and Wales icon Ian Rush and was a key member of Barry Lewtas’ squad for the academy last term. He also had a 46-day loan stint with the Portuguese side Familicao.
In the 2021-2022 season, Beck appeared in two matches for the first team, under Jurgen Klopp. Both were Carabao Cup games, one against Preston and the other against Leicester and obviously, we won both.
Training with the first team at Liverpool would provide Beck with the opportunity to learn from experienced players such as Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, who are currently the first-choice left-backs at the club.
Moreover, being around the first-team environment would also give Beck the chance to learn the style of play and tactics used by Liverpool, which could help him to better understand and adapt to the club’s system.
While game-time with the first team would likely stand limited due to the presence of Robbo and Kostas, Beck would still have the opportunity to make appearances in cup competitions or as a substitute in league matches.
Overall, bringing back Owen from his loan deal with Bolton would be a smart move for Liverpool in the long term, as it would provide the club with a young, talented player who has the potential to develop into a valuable asset for the team.
