Jurgen Klopp gives short but direct injury update on Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp gives Arthur Melo fitness update

The Reds’ summer deadline day signing Arthur Melo has played a total of a grand thirteen minutes for Liverpool. And those few minutes also came in a helpless cause as the Reds lost that one game 4-1 to Napoli away from home.

After garnering a few valuable minutes for the club’s U21 squads, the player when almost poised to rejoin the Reds’ senior team, saw himself out due to a knee issue and has been out since the middle of October.

But however, in what could be a glimmer of positive news for the Reds, the Juventus loan signing could feature for Liverpool sooner than later as the manager Jurgen Klopp gave an update on the player ahead of the FA Cup visit to Brighton.

As per Klopp via Liverpool Echo, Melo “looks good” and he will start training in “two or three weeks”. There is certainly no better time for Melo to return to fitness and give the manager a few more options. The Reds are visibly struggling in the middle of the park and could do with the services of a few more players.

Arthur for the Reds

With the inconsistent performances of key players like Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, the Reds are not at their best when it comes to their natural pressing style of play and hence, Arthur’s return might just be something the Reds need the most at this point in time.

Henderson, who has been a mainstay in Liverpool’s midfield for several years, has been particularly off-form. The club captain has struggled to replicate the form that saw him lift the Premier League trophy with the Reds a few seasons ago, and his lack of consistency has been a major concern for manager Jurgen Klopp.

Similarly, Fabinho has also been struggling with his form. The Brazilian, who is usually a rock in the midfield, has stood prone to mistakes. Moreover, the player is far from able to provide the same level of defensive solidity that he usually possesses.

The return of Melo from injury, therefore, comes as a welcome boost for Liverpool. The Brazilian is a technically gifted midfielder and is known for his ability to control the tempo of the game and dictate play.

More Liverpool News:

Arthur will be able to provide some much-needed creativity and vision in midfield, which has been lacking in recent games.
