Liverpool star makes up his mind to leave the club next summer

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita set for summer exit from Anfield

It would appear that Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita will in all likelihood, be on his way out of the club at the end of this campaign. New reports also claim that the player is ‘becoming increasingly frustrated’ with life on Merseyside.

The latest report on the situation from TEAMtalk (h/t Liverpool Echo)has suggested Keita has decided to exit the club opting not to renew his contract beyond this season at Liverpool which lasts until June 2023 (Transfermarkt).

Naby has made 11 appearances across all competitions this season and has stayed fairly injury-free this campaign. Even last season, the player defied himself by staying fit for a prolonged period of time but in all fairness, Keita has been extremely injury-prone during his time at the Reds.

Keita to leave this summer?

The Reds’ No.8 is out of contract this summer as earlier mentioned and stands set to leave the club as a free agent this summer unless the parties agree on a deal in the coming months which also stands extremely unlikely at the moment.

However, with the Reds targeting Jude Bellingham as well who will cost nothing less than £130m, taking some wages off the books might go a long way in helping finance Jude’s deal with the Reds.

With the calls for a midfield revamp going louder than ever, it is absolutely essential that the Reds get rid of all players who do not substantially contribute to the team. Keita joined Liverpool in 2019 from RB Leipzig amid much hype. He was expected to bring a great deal of energy, skill, and creativity to the club’s midfield which was on show in the Bundesliga.

Unfortunately, Keita’s time at Liverpool has stood plagued by injuries and he has been unable to consistently display his full potential. And in the games he has played, the player has been the epitome of inconsistency.

More Liverpool News:

Despite Keita’s undoubted talent, his injury-prone nature is in all likelihood the main reason why he is not likely to receive a contract extension at Jurgen Klopp’s side and might have to seek a move elsewhere which is best for both parties.
