Sergio Aguero underlines injuries as a major issue for Liverpool FC’s struggles this season

Former Manchester City star Sergio Aguero has underlined the injury issues affecting Liverpool FC’s season as a major factor in their struggles. The Argentine striker, who last played for Barcelona, has highlighted the squad’s injury concerns as a crucial issue affecting the team’s form.

This season has been a disappointment for the team that has set high standards for itself. The Reds have not been able to meet these expectations, and this has resulted in criticism directed towards both the players and the gaffer Jurgen Klopp.

The team has failed to progress in the domestic cup competitions, which they had won last season. Moreover, they are currently in ninth place in the Premier League, which is not where they would like to be.

Here is what Aguero told Stake.com (h/t Liverpool Echo), on the Reds’ top-four chances, and what he believes might be a major reason for the Reds’ struggles this season:

“The great teams never give up,”

“And also with such outstanding establishments. It is true that this season Liverpool is not at the level of the previous ones.”

“I think the issue of so many injuries hurt their performance. The faster you can get them back, the better chance you have of putting up a fight.”

Liverpool has been hit hard by injuries throughout the season, with players from different departments of the team missing games. In the defence, the long-term absences of key players such as Virgil van Dijk have cornered the manager to play his second-choice options, who have not been consistent enough.

Injuries and Inconsistencies are Liverpool’s biggest flaws this season

In midfield, Liverpool has also had their fair share of injury woes. The team has missed captain Jordan Henderson for several games, while other midfielders such as Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all had spells on the sidelines. The lack of a settled midfield plus the non-existent depth in this area of the pitch has affected Liverpool’s ability to control games and create chances.

Upfront, Liverpool has also struggled with injuries to key attackers such as Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz, and in more recent days, Roberto Firmino as well. The absence of these players has put more pressure on star striker Mohamed Salah and new signing Darwin Nunez, who have had to carry the attacking burden for the team.

In conclusion, injuries have affected Liverpool throughout the squad, from defence to midfield to attack. The lack of a settled team due to these injury concerns has been a major factor in their struggles this season.
