Liverpool winger Luis Diaz returns on the grass as he steps up his recovery from injury

According to Liverpool Echo, Liverpool winger Luis Diaz was spotted back on the grass running separately as he steps up his recovery from a long-term knee injury.

Diaz has not played for the Reds since coming off injured in the game against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium back in the second week of October. He picked up the injury following a challenge with Thomas Partey.

The Colombian international did return with the squad for mid-season training in December but suffered another setback. He then required surgery to deal with the knee issue he had. At the time, it was predicted that the former Porto winger would be out of action for a considerable period.

A few weeks ago, The Athletic (subscription required) reported that Diaz was included in the Champions League for the knockout stages as the club believes he could take some part in the second leg of the last-16 tie against European champions Real Madrid.

If that is indeed the case, it is good news for Liverpool fans. We have missed the pace, trickery and final product of the 25-year-old down that left-hand side. Darwin Nunez has done well in that position, but the Reds could do with a natural winger like Diaz to come back soon.

Diaz has been a revelation at Anfield since arriving from Porto in the latter stages of the 2022 January window. His inclusion in the squad was one of the main reasons why we went so close to immortality last season.

This season as well, despite a rocky start, it was Colombian who used to be a source of inspiration to spur the team on. His absence has been a long one for us. We hope he is back in the reckoning soon and fire us to a memorable end to this treacherous campaign.
