“The bad news is”- Jurgen Klopp delivers update on Liverpool star Darwin Nunez’s injury scare

Darwin Nunez injury situation needs more assessment as per Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

A shoulder injury forced Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez off the field against Newcastle United midway through the second half. Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, has stated that he needs to assess the injury situation further.

However, by that point, Darwin had already opened the scoring for the Reds against the Magpies before Cody Gakpo’s goal doubled Liverpool’s lead over Eddie Howe’s side. However, this latest injury situation with Darwin has raised concerns about his availability for the upcoming clash against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

Nunez has been an important player for Liverpool since his arrival in the summer transfer window. He has made a significant impact on the team with his pace and power. His performance against Newcastle was particularly impressive, as he showed great composure to score a crucial goal early in the first half of the game.

Here is what Klopp told the reporters about Darwin’s situation via Liverpool Echo:

“The bad news is Darwin has something on his shoulder. We will see. In that situation, I don’t know what he whistled at to be honest, against him.

“In the end he had to go off with a shoulder issue and we need further assessments. I don’t know in the moment. In the moment it’s painful. Hopefully it’s just painful and nothing more.”

Nunez injury situation

The injury sustained by Nunez is a cause for concern, particularly with the crucial Champions League tie against Real Madrid coming up. Liverpool will need all of their best players fit and firing if they are to progress to the next round of the competition. Nunez’s absence would be a significant blow to the team, as he has the ability to create havoc in their backline.

However, Klopp is taking a cautious approach with Nunez’s injury and is waiting for more information before making a final decision on his availability. The manager understands the importance of the upcoming game and will understandably not take any risks with his players’ fitness.

Moreover, he does not even have a full squad to choose from, and he will need to make some tough decisions regarding the starting lineup for the game against Los Blancos.
