Jamie Redknapp believes Liverpool should win their next two games to ensure UEFA Champions League qualification
According to The Liverpool Echo, Jamie Redknapp believes that Liverpool should win their next two games to gain a major boost in their efforts to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
The Reds are currently in the seventh spot, nine points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur. Jurgen Klopp’s men, however, have two games in hand, giving them enough opportunities to close the gap.
The 0-0 draw vs Crystal Palace last night was a lost opportunity but there is little use in crying over spilt milk now. Attention now shifts to the upcoming games with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United set to visit Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have struggled this season and only a top-four finish can now salvage their season. Redknapp believes the Reds can take a major step in the direction should they secure six points from the next two games.
“They’ve got to win these next two games, they’re home games, they’ve got to find that belief and confidence at home because a little bit will have been knocked away with that midweek performance.”
Liverpool have already played Wolves thrice this season across multiple competitions. We suffered an abject loss at the Molineux and retribution should be in our thoughts on the night.
Manchester United will present a bigger challenge and will arrive at Anfield following their Carabao Cup final appearance. A win on the night will not just give us a shot in the arm in the top-four chase but also dent Man United’s chances of a surprise title charge.
Klopp and co cannot afford to let their guard down and should put on a winning run that can hopefully go until the end of the season. Three points against Wolves’ midweek would be an excellent start.
