Injury Update: The latest take on key Liverpool duo as Premier League return inches closer

Injury updates as Liverpool stars Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz inch closer to full fitness

Liverpool are hopeful Luis Diaz will return to full team training next week as they begin their preparations for the Premier League run-in (h/t Liverpool Echo). Moreover, Darwin Nunez will also hope to return to ideal fitness levels ahead of the clash against Manchester City on 1st April.

Lucho hasn’t been part of any matchday squad since his knee injury against Arsenal in the early weeks of October. And for Nunez, the player did not travel with his national team due to a minor injury issue the player picked up against Real Madrid.

In the past few weeks, Diaz has been intensifying his recovery process at the AXA Training Centre. Last Tuesday, while the rest of the team put through their paces ahead of the Champions League game against Madrid the next day, he was running on grass which is an optimistic development.

With Joe Gomez also on the verge of returning from his injury layoff, the only long-term issue for the Reds in terms of injury absentees is Thiago who hasn’t been in the squad since March 10th due to a training injury. Stefan Bajcetic and Calvin Ramsay, both stand ruled out of the season.

Injuries-galore for the Reds

However, due to international duties, 12 of the Liverpool players will be joining up later in the week to prepare for the upcoming Premier League clash against Manchester City on the following Saturday. The Reds are currently seven points adrift of the top four, but they still have two games in hand.

This means that there is still an opportunity for them to secure a spot in the top four, which would give them a chance to compete in next season’s Champions League. However, they will need to start picking up points consistently if they want to close the gap on their rivals.

Liverpool’s performances have been somewhat inconsistent this season, with injuries and other issues affecting the team’s form.

However, they have shown that they are capable of producing some top-quality football when they are firing on all cylinders. With a talented squad and an experienced manager at the helm, there is still reason to be optimistic about Liverpool’s chances this season.

The match against City will be a crucial test for the Reds, and they will need to put in a strong performance if they want to come away with a positive result. The team will be hoping that they can build some momentum in the coming weeks and put together a strong run of form that will help them achieve their goals for the season.
