Liverpool superstar in contention to make competitive return against Manchester City

Liverpool get boost ahead of the final stretch with Luis Diaz back fit

Liverpool winger Luis Diaz is back fit and could be available for the squad when the Reds resume their season with an away game against Manchester City (Telegraph).

Diaz, who has been missing since October when he injured his knee, has been on the grass for some time now. The report revealed that the Colombian has been training with the Academy players over the past week with the seniors busy representing their respective nations.

The former Porto winger is expected

to train normally with the first team over the next few days. He will also be in contention to be a part of the squad that faces the tough task of playing Manchester City away at the Etihad on Saturday.

Although Liverpool’s issues this season have been in the midfield, they have missed the presence of Diaz on the left-hand side.

While the City game may come too early for him to get a start, we can hope that he plays some part in that contest and possibly start against Chelsea on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old made a great start to the season, scoring four goals and assisting three in 12 appearances in all competitions. His pace, directness with the ball and great final product delivery is something that was missed in the last five months.

Darwin Nunez has been doing well on the left-hand side in the last few weeks, but one would imagine that if Diaz is fully ready, he would slot back into that position.

Jurgen Klopp may either rotate between Nunez and Diaz or play them both with Cody Gakpo as a number 10 in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

More Liverpool News:

It is always good to have options when we have been short of them throughout this season due to injuries. We hope that the players are ready to fight tooth and nail to get into the top four by May.
