Real Madrid are considering a move for soon-to-be-leaving Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino
According to El Nacional (h/t Daily Mail), European champions Real Madrid are considering a move for Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino, who is set to leave Anfield in the summer.
After eight glorious years at the club, the Brazilian decided to not extend his stay at Liverpool and leave the club on a free transfer after the end of this season.
Madrid, on the other hand, are expecting their star striker Karim Benzema to sign a new deal. But, they need to have a backup option, hence potentially exploring a deal to sign Firmino.
The report also reveals that a lot of top clubs in Europe would be interested in signing the Brazil international considering that he will be available for free. A few weeks ago, it was reported that top Italian clubs Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus are eyeing up a move.
What can we say about the 31-year-old? He was an exceptional servant for Liverpool and played a major part in the club winning every trophy possible in the last four years under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp.
Having let go of conventional strikers in the squad, Klopp started playing Firmino as a false nine since the latter half of the 2015/16 season, and it worked a treat when Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were added on either side of him.
Between 2017 and 2021, that trio ruled the roost in Europe. Although Salah and Mane got a lot of plaudits, they were ticked by an unselfish number nine in Firmino.

Wherever he goes, the Brazilian will be a massive miss for us at Liverpool. We overuse the word legend at times, but the 31-year-old is a bonafide legend of this football club.
