Familiar suspect lands Liverpool monthly gong for March

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah named club’s Player of the Month for March

Mohamed Salah wins Liverpool FC’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Month for March, after an impressive run of performances that saw him become the club’s all-time leading Premier League goalscorer. In a fan poll on Liverpoolfc.com, he edged out teammates Cody Gakpo and Alisson Becker to claim the award.

The Egyptian forward began March with a goal that sealed a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield. He followed that up by making history in the unforgettable 7-0 defeat of Manchester United, scoring twice to take his overall Reds tally in the league to 129 and beat Robbie Fowler’s previous club record in the process.

Liverpool’s focus now is firmly on their upcoming Premier League match against Leeds United, as they aim to build on last weekend’s fightback in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

Here is what he said on the club’s official website about his performances over the month:

“Thank you, it’s nice to win it and I’m happy to win it again.

“The next game is the most important [thing] for us at the moment, so hopefully we can get a good result.

“I think the favourite game in March for everyone was [the 7-0 win over Manchester] United, so I will pick United. Good result, good game, Anfield – so all together it was good.”

More to come from Mo

Salah’s recognition as Liverpool’s player of the month is well deserved, given his remarkable achievements in March. He has been a crucial part of Liverpool’s attack, consistently providing goals and assists for the team.

Salah’s ability to find the back of the net has been especially impressive this season, as he currently leads the Premier League’s scoring chart with 13

goals. His performances have obviously been vital to Liverpool’s bid for a top-four finish and Champions League qualification.

Mo last won the award for December, and since then, Stefan Bajcetic and Darwin Nunez have won the Liverpool POTMonth for January and February respectively. The Reds drew out Arsenal to a hard-fought win in their last league fixture and would hope to carry that momentum to The Midlands against Leeds United.

Liverpool’s focus is now on building on their recent performances and securing a place in next season’s Champions League. Salah’s individual achievements are a reminder of the importance of individual performances within a team context.

More Liverpool News:

Nottingham Forest will come to Anfield the week after the Reds’ trip to Leeds and Liverpool will again travel to London the week later to face West Ham United. Hopefully, Mo contributes in all these games, strengthening our chances of a top-four finish.
