Liverpool to hold talks with Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister soon

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are planning to hold talks with Brighton for their 24-year-old Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister. The 2022 World Cup winner has been on the Reds’ transfer radar for a substantial period of time, and Liverpool would hope to get a deal through for the versatile midfielder.

Following the retraction of interest in Jude Bellingham, Liverpool naturally would’ve had to look for alternatives elsewhere, and amid interest in other midfielders including the likes of Mason Mount and Matheus Nunes, the name of Mac Allister stands out.

In 30 appearances across all competitions this season, he has ten goals and two assists for the Seagulls.

As earlier mentioned, the Argentine is extremely versatile and can play central midfield and defensive midfield roles as well as his natural game of a number 10. His contract at the Sussex-based outfit expires in the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt).

Mac Allister to the Reds?

Given there’s more than just two windows to go for his contract to expire, Brighton would ideally want a substantial sum for their player and rightly get a good return on their investment.

And as far as the Reds are concerned, Liverpool are obviously in a position of desperation to get on board a few quality midfielders, and creative ones at that. The fact that the Reds are in a position to hold talks with the player’s entourage will give the fans a sense of optimism heading into the next season.

With the likes of Jordan Henderson and James Milner ageing quicker than the speed of light added to the inconsistencies of the rest of the midfield, there is certainly a need for the Reds to add in that department.

Moreover, according to the same article, Liverpool recently conducted a recruitment meeting in London with the aim of gathering information about potential transfer targets.

Hopefully, this is just an indication of the Reds trying to get the club back on the right track for next season and beyond. Mac Allister is certainly a fantastic player, and Liverpool should go all-in in their pursuit of the player.
