Luis Diaz “happy” playing for Liverpool after a long injury layoff

Luis Diaz posted an Instagram post of being “happy” to be playing his comeback game for Liverpool against Leeds United.

The Reds thrashed Leeds 6-1, with Diaz coming off the bench in the last 15 minutes amidst a huge cheer from the away contingent at Elland Road.

The Colombian international missed six months of action since going off injured against Arsenal back in early October. His injury got aggravated during the mid-season training camp in December.

Although he may not play much of a part in the last eight games of this season due to the length of time he was out, Liverpool fans are ecstatic to see him back fit. Once he goes through the pre-season untroubled, we could see fireworks from him next season.

While it was great news to have the 26-year-old back, the Reds were even better on the field to smash Leeds away from home. It was payback time as the Yorkshire club are the only team to have won a league game at Anfield this season so far.

The win puts us within six points of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and nine behind fourth-placed Newcastle United. While the top-four looks unlikely, they should aim to finish fifth and go straight into the Europa League group stages.

The new hybrid role given to Trent Alexander-Arnold has worked wonders for Jurgen Klopp. The 24-year-old is starting as a right-back but moves into midfield when the team is in possession. His creativity and protection could be vital to how Liverpool finish this tumultuous season.

Getting Europa League is still a strong possibility for Klopp’s men. What they should crave for is some consistency because after thrashing Manchester United on the 5th of March, this was our first league win – a gap of more than 40 days between the two victories. It is unacceptable!
