Jurgen Klopp does not believe Trent Alexander Arnold’s tactical evolution addresses all of Liverpool FC’s problems

According to The Independent, Jurgen Klopp does not believe that the tactical tweak involving Trent Alexander-Arnold does not solve all of Liverpool FC’s problems this season.

The Reds are coming off a poor season with just the FA Community Shield to show for their efforts. It could yet end on a happy note should they somehow sneak into the top four come to the end of the campaign.

Liverpool have shown weaknesses all across the board, with the midfield and defence causing us several concerns. Alexander-Arnold has also enjoyed a poor campaign and has often been criticized for his lack of defensive nous at right back.

While the Englishman cannot be expected to turn into Paolo Maldini overnight, Klopp found a way around the issue by deploying Alexander-Arnold in a central role when in possession.

The Reds’ star impressed on the night against Leeds United and earned his stripes as a reliable inverted wing-back. While it does offer us more bite from central midfield, it far from makes the side bereft of concerns.

Speaking ahead of the game against Nottingham Forest, Klopp revealed just that. It is heartening to see that the German is not blind to the issues that need addressing next summer.

“Not the solution for all the football problems.”

The German did, however, praise Alexander-Arnold for impressing in the new role. At the very least, it adds dynamism to the Liverpool midfield, offering more going forward. Nobody who saw him play against Leeds would argue that point.

“This now slightly advanced role suits him in the moment really well.”
