Liverpool’s Fabinho faces two-game suspension if he is booked vs Nottingham Forest

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool star Fabinho could miss two matches in the coming weeks should he pick up a suspension at the weekend against Nottingham Forest.

The Reds welcome the tricky trees to Anfield on Saturday following the 6-1 thumping of Leeds United at Elland Road. It was one of our best wins this season and gives us the foundation to put together a strong run of results to the end of the season.

Finishing in the top four is still a difficult ask, but not impossible. The best Jurgen Klopp’s men can do is win their games and pounce if either Newcastle United or Manchester United slip up.

The Reds also welcomed back several key players from injury at Elland Road but could be set to lose a critical cog in midfield should he pick up a yellow card against Nottingham Forest.

Fabinho is a key asset in the middle of the park for Liverpool but has failed to live up to his standards this season. However, in the odd moments when he has stepped up, Liverpool looked like a different beast in the middle of the park.

As per Premier League rules stipulations, players who collect 10 yellow cards in league matches up to and including their team’s 32nd fixture will serve a two-match ban in the competition.

Can Fabinho avoid a booking on Saturday?

Fabinho already has nine this season and picking another one this weekend will rule him out of the crunch clashes against West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur. Given the options we have in midfield, it would be a bitter pillow for Klopp to swallow.

As things stand, Liverpool are in a good position to assault the top four spots and can do with needless absentees, especially to their starting XI. Hopefully, the Brazilian can keep his calm and put in a performance that is structured yet effective.
