Former Liverpool star Robbie Fowler says Joelinton looks like the perfect fit for the Reds
According to Robbie Fowler via Chronicle Live, Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton could stand as ‘the perfect fit’ for Liverpool. The 26-year-old Brazilian international has been a great find for the Magpies as he has 22 goals and 11 assists in 154 appearances across all competitions.
Especially under Eddie Howe, the player seems to have rediscovered his mojo. He has a big part to play in Newcastle’s UCL-spot surge this season and has been almost indispensable for the Midlanders.
With Liverpool’s midfield also not at its best, there have been a lot of calls for a complete revamp. The likes of Jordan Henderson and James Milner do not have more than a season or a maximum of two at the top of the European game as starters.
Speaking to Sunday Mirror via the Chronicle Live, here is what Fowler had to say on Joelinton being the right fit for the Reds:
“I’d end too, by saying that I’m a big, big fan of Joelinton, who combines both aspects of the game I’ve been talking about. And [he] looks just about the identikit of the perfect player for Liverpool.”
Joelinton to the Reds?
The Brazilian athlete could sit as an excellent fit for Liverpool due to his speed, strength, and ability to run for long periods. Despite his current status as a crucial member of the team, he faced challenges during his time in Newcastle. Only after Eddie Howe became the coach in November 2021 were the Brazilian’s skills as a midfielder recognized.
He has become one of the league’s top pressing midfielders since switching to that position. As a result, he could be an excellent replacement for players like Henderson. In addition to his excellent defence and pressing abilities, Joelinton has significantly improved his attacking skills under coach Howe’s guidance.
Joelinton’s six goals in the league this season demonstrate that he can perform well both offensively and defensively.
The midfield has been a big issue for the Reds for quite some time now and it is about time that Jurgen Klopp reinforces the middle of the park for the club. Hopefully, we can get on board a few quality players for next season and beyond.

If Liverpool intends to add Joelinton to their limited midfield options, they will likely face tough negotiations with Newcastle’s management. The club’s leadership will undoubtedly want to keep their star midfielder, particularly as the team climbs the league rankings.
