Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp keen to recruit midfield trio including Mason Mount ahead of pre-season

Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool to sign Mason Mount, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis-Mac Allister

According to The Express, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has shortlisted Chelsea’s Mason Mount, Bayern Munich starlet Ryan Gravenberch and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Alexis Mac Allister to rekindle the flame in his midfield for the 2022/23 campaign.

The Reds are in need of a midfield revamp and it would appear that the upcoming summer will help them achieve just that. Liverpool need more than one player coming in and Klopp knows it all too well.

The likes of James Milner and Jordan Henderson have been loyal servants for many years but their age is starting to show. More so the imminent departures of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

coupled with Fabinho’s form jumping off a cliff make the situation untenable.

Klopp has his eyes set on three players and hopes to have them at the club before pre-season kicks off. Doing so will help the trio make themselves familiar with the Reds’ system, ensuring they will be ready for the season ahead.

Mason Mount is yet to pen an extension at Chelsea and is a proven player in the Premier League. A champions league, winner, the 24-year-old could do with a change of scenery to rekindle his career. More so, signing him will also ensure that the Reds add to their homegrown quota.

Ryan Gravenberch is the youngest of the trio and has failed to step up at Bayern Munich this season. The 20-year-old has immense potential and has the ability to become a mainstay in the Reds’ midfield for the next decade. One of Eredivisie’s best talents during his time at Ajax Amsterdam, Gravenberch could prove to be an excellent addition to the Liverpool roster.

The biggest name on Klopp’s list is Alexis Mac Allister, the Argentine World Cup winner impressing at Brighton. An excellent ball carrier, the 24-year-old would bring energy and dynamism to the Reds midfield. Another proven Premier League talent, and he should have no issues settling in.

Liverpool will now need to ensure that Klopp is given the tools he needs to build his next great Reds squad. All three players on the list are young and will prove to be first-XI mainstays should they develop as expected.

While signing all three players will undoubtedly prove to be a shot in the arm, the Reds will do well to add a fourth. What Liverpool lack at the moment is a destroyer in the midfield and should aim to add someone like Manuel Ugarte to their ranks. Doing so will ensure that the right balance is achieved in the middle of the park. The good times might be set to roll at Anfield once again.
