Liverpool target Alexis Mac Allister “happy” at Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton & Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister, who is of interest to Liverpool, has stated that he is “happy” to be with the Amex Stadium side.

The Argentina international was on the scoresheet as the Seagulls beat Manchester United 1-0 at home on Thursday (4 May). A 99th-minute penalty from him found the back of the net. At the moment, Roberto De Zerbi’s team are sixth in the league table.

Speaking on Sky Sports (h/t Metro) after the win over the Red Devils, the 24-year-old expressed his thankfulness towards Brighton and revealed he felt at home in East Sussex.

“I’ve been here three-and-a-half years. I know what this club gave to me, I’m really grateful and I’m really happy to be here. It’s a fantastic team, like a family, so every time I’m on the pitch I really enjoy being here.”

Mac Allister joined the Seagulls in January 2019 and spent some time out on loan. Subsequently, the midfielder came back to the East Sussex-based club and has developed into a quality player.

Last season, the Argentine established himself in the Amex Stadium side’s starting lineup. In the current campaign, the 24-year-old has come into his own and caught a lot of people’s attention.

In the 2022 World Cup, Mac Allister shone for La Albiceleste as they went all the way in the competition. The 24-year-old provided an assist in the final as Lionel Scaloni’s team beat France.

As for Liverpool, our midfield has lacked a lot over the last few months. With ageing players like Jordan Henderson and James Milner, we seem to have lost a bit of our intensity.

Also, Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been injury prone during their time at the Anfield side. Fabinho has also been underwhelming. In these circumstances, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliot have had a lot of pressure on their shoulders to perform.

Jurgen Klopp could evidently do with someone like Mac Allister at his disposal. The Argentine is an exciting box-to-box midfield with a lot of talent. However, it remains to be seen whether the Merseysiders will get a hold of the 24-year-old’s signature in the coming months.
