Transfer News: Liverpool and Brighton reach an agreement for Alexis Mac Allister
According to Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb, Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion Albion have reached a verbal agreement with each other regarding a summer transfer of Alexis Mac Allister.
The Argentine ace was part of the squad that won the FIFA World Cup last year. At 24, he isn’t just experienced in the Premier League but is a consistent performer who can fit right into the Reds’ midfield.
A bundle of energy, he will bring much enthusiasm and drive to the Liverpool midfield. The Reds’ roster in the middle of the park has been found wanting several times this season and Mac Allister would help stem those concerns.
Having missed out on Jude Bellingham, Liverpool have now shifted their attention elsewhere. Mac Allister certainly is an interesting option and was valued at €60m by the Seagulls. Liverpool are ready to match the price and an agreement appears to be in order.
Playing in Brighton’s high-energy system will certainly aid the player in settling in at Liverpool. His keen eye for goal and ability to link up with players while running into channels adds much to the Reds roster.
One issue that could crop up is Mac Allister is seeking Champions League football. Liverpool are currently fifth in the league, four points off Manchester United in the fourth spot.
The Red Devils are also keen on the Argentine and finishing ahead of us could pave the way for them to put together an offer. Hopefully, we will have done our leg work and reached an agreement on paper. by then.

As seen in recent weeks, Liverpool could once again emerge as contenders if they strengthen the midfield. Mac Allister is a good starting point but we will need at least three more players in the summer. Hopefully, John Henry and co. will also see it that way.
