Alexis Mac Allister’s potential move to Liverpool getting closer as target expected to leave Brighton early next summer

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano via Twitter, Liverpool are inching closer to getting through a deal for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Alexis Mac Allister. According to Romano, the 24-year-old Argentine World Cup winner stands expected to leave Brighton early in the summer.

After the drop off in the interest in Jude Bellingham, Mac Allister, along with Chelsea’s Mason Mount emerged as Liverpool’s primary transfer targets. The news that the player could leave the Seagulls early next summer comes as a significant boost for the Reds.

The change in Liverpool’s style of play from a 4-3-3 to a 3-4-3 in position has highlighted the need for a creative player on the left side of central midfield to engage enough goal output from that side as well. Mac Allister, in that position, could obviously be an excellent fit for the Reds.

In 34 appearances across all competitions, the player has 11 goals and two assists, and naturally, most of them coming in the league. With his versatility, he can certainly give manager Jurgen Klopp a variety of options in the middle of the park.

Big boost for the Reds

Moreover, with the growing confidence of Curtis Jones, Klopp could see himself spoilt for options in case we also get in someone like Mason Mount too.

However, the Reds have lacked a creative midfielder ever since Phillipe Coutinho left the club, and that is where Alexis Mac Allister could be just the midfielder Liverpool are looking for.

Besides, the fact that the player intends to leave Brighton means he could join the Reds. While it does not hold great significance given his intention to leave Brighton, on paper, his contract with the Sussex-based side lasts until 2025 (Transfermarkt) and Roberto de Zerbi would want a big cheque to part ways with Mac Allister.

With so many midfielders on their way out of Liverpool, this is the best chance for the Reds to get in a good few players for the middle of the park, who can play in the long-term as well as provide stability in the immediate few seasons too.
