Luis Diaz and his return from injury for Liverpool is a massive boost. Ever since his return against Leeds after a knee injury in October against Arsenal, Lucho has been great and gives a new dynamic to the Reds’ attack. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp spoke about how happy he is to see Diaz back in the fray.

Lucho could’ve made his way back into the squad much earlier, given his fitness during the mid-season training camp in Dubai. However, a recurrence of the same injury on the first day of the camp saw Diaz fly back to Merseyside after just one training session in the middle east.

There is absolutely no doubt that he would have been a major difference maker, and our top four scenarios would’ve been much different if Jurgen Klopp could do with the services of Luis Diaz in that while.

Here is what Klopp told the club’s official website on Lucho’s return and how excited he is about the same:

“Fantastic. We are so excited about it, we were always excited about it. He’s a natural player. I love him, absolutely love him. It’s unbelievable.” 

“He’s so football smart, moving in the right areas, naturally defending from his position, goal threat, speed, cheeky. Very, very special player, I have to say. We missed him a lot.” 

Lucho is back for the Reds

Even in the first part of the season, Diaz was arguably our best player. In 18 appearances across all competitions this season, he has five goals and three assists. Lucho has taken over the baton of the left wing from Sadio Mane gracefully, and there is a lot to come from the player.

As Klopp rightly said, we missed him a lot. Hopefully, he gets to increase his goal tally in the few games left in the season, starting against Leicester later this evening. His flair and skill is top notch and is probably the most technically sound attacker in our squad, bar Roberto Firmino.

Having a fully fit and firing Luis Diaz will be a big asset for Klopp’s side as they look to challenge for silverware once again.

In conclusion, Jurgen Klopp’s excitement for Diaz’s return from injury is understandable given the impact he had in his debut season for Liverpool. Diaz’s pace and creativity provide an extra dimension to Liverpool’s attack and the Reds dearly felt his absence during the time he stood sidelined.
