Man United legend Gary Neville urges FSG to back Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in the summer
Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast via Sky Sports, Manchester United legend Gary Neville has called upon FSG to back Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Americans have largely brought about stability at Anfield but there is much work to be done in the recruitment sphere. The Reds roster has been allowed to age without an infusion of youth, especially in midfield.
Klopp has turned around his side’s fortunes with a change in formation. While the Reds have taken their performance to the next level, there are glaring holes that need to be filled in the summer.
Neville has been vocal about Klopp needing backing in the summer and he has now gone on to repeat it. The 2019 summer window was a crucial one for the Reds as stars such as Alisson Becker, Naby Keita among others were brought in. It certainly helped the club mount a charge for trophies.
Neville believes another such summer is now needed on Merseyside. Securing the right signings will breathe new life into a side that is lacking inspiration in some areas and can be rectified sooner rather than later.
“He was supported when they fell short by being able to push themselves in the transfer market, they’ll have to go there again this summer.”
Liverpool never got to the top by throwing money at their problems. Instead, it took dogged recruitment and some inspired tactics to transform Liverpool’s fortunes.
With other teams around us also likely to spend, FSG cannot afford for the club to fall further behind. Hopefully, they are also thinking along the same lines heading into the summer.
“Other teams are going to invest, Klopp’s strength over the last six or seven years has been the quality of football but also the strength of recruitment.”

Liverpool are just one point off Manchester United and Newcastle United in the race for a top-four finish despite playing a game more. Hopefully, we can sneak into the Champions League, further enhancing the funds made available for Klopp. That, and the club would then be an even more attractive destination for players that we want to sign
