Bayern Munich enter the race for Liverpool midfield target Declan Rice
Bayern Munich are the latest entrants in the race to sign Liverpool midfield target and West Ham United captain Declan Rice.
This is according to BILD journalist Christian Falk (h/t Liverpool Echo), who says that while the Bavarians are interested in the 24-year-old, they know they may not stand a chance against English clubs.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move for the England international. Apparently, they are set to open talks over a £90million move for him with West Ham United – a huge fee for any team.
It seems the Gunners are taking steps to formalize a deal for Rice, who has also been linked with Manchester United. Although the Hammers are supposedly not going to entertain any discussions over Rice until the end of the season.
Arsenal seem to be winning the race
Bayern’s interest would be worrisome for Liverpool and other English teams to an extent. That automatically raises the player’s stocks considering it is one more high-profile suitor.
Not to mention, there has been a flurry of English players going to the Bundesliga and finding success there – Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham, Reece Oxford and Ademola Lookman being some of the examples.
Nevertheless, Rice has spent his entire professional career in England. In London, to be precise. He was at Chelsea’s youth set-up before moving to the Hammers in 2013.

If he has a desire to continue that trend and stay in the capital city, perhaps Arsenal have an advantage. But hopefully, the void in our midfield and the opportunity to play for a manager like Jurgen Klopp convinces Rice that the project at Liverpool is the right one for him to propel himself to international stardom.
