Liverpool ahead of Manchester United in the pursuit of Chelsea star

Liverpool front runners in Mason Mount transfer race

Despite Manchester United launching a bid and Arsenal showing a lot of interest in the player, Liverpool are still the front-runners to sign Mason Mount of Chelsea over the summer.

A report from Daily Mail talked about Manchester United ‘readying’ a bid worth £55m for Mount, but as per Football London via ECHO, Liverpool remain front runners to sign the player from Chelsea despite interest from their rivals and even Arsenal.

A workhorse like Mason Mount could stand as a handy fit for any Premier League club, and the only party which could not benefit from this scenario is Chelsea. The delays in his contract negotiation that ends in 2024 (Transfermarkt

) can in all likelihood end up in him leaving the club for a rival, and hopefully, that is Liverpool.

The Reds certainly need a midfield shuffle following the imminent departure of three midfielders over the summer. As earlier mentioned, a workhorse like Mount on the right side of the midfield at Liverpool could prove to be extremely beneficial for either party.

Where will Mount go?

Mount’s relentless running, Jordan Henderson-esque, down the right flank, could do the trick for the Reds. The 24-year-old is as reliable as anyone on the ball and could contribute in both, attack and defence.

while advanced, Mount’s skillset fits Liverpool’s new style of play like a glove.

Best believe if this transfer works out, in addition to Alexis Mac Allister, the Reds have sorted most of their problems out for a foreseeable amount of time.

With news emerging that the Reds have done a majority of the groundwork to complete the transfer of Mount, good times probably be assured for Liverpool in the immediate future after a pretty much sad season.

Frank Lampard, the interim manager at Chelsea, gave a pretty cryptic answer when prompted on whether or not Mount has played his last game for the Blues. Sparks a bit more excitement within the Liverpool camp, that.
