Mauricio Pochettino is keen to retain Chelsea star amidst strong interest from Liverpool

Chelsea new boss Mauricio Pochettino keen on Mason Mount despite Liverpool links

CBS reports that new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is eager for Mason Mount to stay at Stamford Bridge despite his links with a move away from London. Liverpool and Manchester United are among the clubs showing interest in the player.

Mason Mount sees himself linked with a move to the Reds for quite a while now but as per Ben Jacobs of CBS via Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News), Poch remains keen on keeping the Englishman at Stamford Bridge and hopes to find a solution to his contract situation.

While Pochettino may wish to persuade Mount to stay, only time will tell whether he can alter the course of events. Chelsea’s financial situation pertaining to FFP rules and the need to comply with regulations may ultimately influence the decision to sell the midfielder.

Mount, who has just one year remaining on his contract (Transfermarkt), has garnered significant interest from various clubs apart from Liverpool as well and the Reds need to stay proactive in their pursuit of getting the 24-year-old on board.

Where next for Mount?

The potential availability of Mason Mount certainly represents an intriguing opportunity. The Reds have been in search of midfield reinforcements for quite a while now and Mount’s skillset aligns with Jurgen Klopp’s preferred style of play.

His ability to contribute in various attacking positions would add depth and creativity to Liverpool’s midfield options. This season alone in 35 appearances across all competitions, he has three goals and six assists.
