31-year-old Bundesliga star linked with surprise Liverpool return this summer

Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane linked with a shock return from Bayern Munich

In a surprising turn of events, surprising claims have emerged suggesting that Sadio Mane could make a sensational return to Liverpool following a disappointing spell at Bayern Munich.

It’s worth noting that the Reds had sold the talented winger to Bayern for a relatively modest fee of around £30m just last summer. However, Bild via ECHO report that Sadio Mane is among the players the club aims to axe with the intention of a rebuild at the club.

While Mane’s potential comeback may capture the imagination of some fans, it’s important to acknowledge that Liverpool’s current attack already seems stacked with exceptional talent. The Reds boast an impressive array of attacking options that have shown great promise.

The likes of Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez, alongside the regulars, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz are just getting fitting into a new-look Liverpool attack. With the exit of Roberto Firmino over the summer window as well, the Reds’ attack will have a completely new look to it.

Could Mane move back to Merseyside?

Since Mane’s departure, Liverpool has undergone a period of transition, building a new-look attack that is just beginning to find its rhythm. While Mane’s contributions during his previous tenure at Anfield were unquestionably significant (120 goals and 48 assists in 269 appearances), the team has managed to adapt and evolve without relying solely on his talents.

Moreover, his time at Bayern has been torrid, to say the least, even though the numbers seem decent. In 38

appearances across all competitions, he has 12 goals and six assists. That is nowhere near his usual standards for Liverpool though.

While the prospect of Mane’s return may generate excitement among fans, it’s important to trust the decisions made by the club’s management. Jurgen Klopp and his team have a proven track record of making strategic signings and shaping the squad to achieve sustained success.

The new-look Liverpool attack is still in its early stages, and it would be premature to judge its potential solely based on the absence of major silverware.

The team’s progress and development should be evaluated over time, considering their performances in various competitions and their ability to challenge for honours. The club would go against the objective of building a capable young squad if they decide to re-sign Mane at 31 only because his past with Liverpool was great.
