Liverpool star Roberto Firmino will not join Real Madrid
Contrary to a number of publications claiming Roberto Firmino joining Real Madrid over the summer following the expiration of his contract at Liverpool, a new update is of the belief that Bobby will not move to Los Blancos.
That is according to Jose Luis Sanchez of El Chiringuito via Liverpool ECHO. Roberto Firmino is out of contract at the Reds at the end of this month (Transfermarkt), and out of respect for the club, he did not hold any discussions with other clubs until the termination of his contract at Merseyside.
Real Madrid, on Sunday, officially announced the departure of Karim Benzema from the club, and Firmino was among the claimed transfer targets to replace the Frenchman at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Instead, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has set his sights on Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane as the ideal replacement for Benzema. With uncertainty surrounding Kane’s future at Spurs, Real Madrid hopes to take advantage of the situation and secure the services of the prolific English striker.
What next for Bobby?
Speaking of Bobby though, Firmino’s imminent departure from Liverpool will mark the end of an era at Anfield. The Brazilian forward has certainly been an integral part of the team’s success, contributing with his unique playing style, selflessness, and ability to create opportunities for his teammates.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will now face the task of finding a suitable replacement for Firmino and reinforcing the attacking lineup. Cody Gakpo has taken over that role fantastically well, and hopefully, he can emulate the Brazilian’s success at the club.
While Real Madrid is no longer a potential destination for Firmino, Liverpool supporters will be eagerly anticipating the club’s next moves.
