Liverpool have entered the race for Fiorentina and Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat
According to FirenzeViola.it via Sport Witness (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool have entered the race for Fiorentina and Morocco ace Sofyan Amrabat.
Amrabat impressed many with his performances at the FIFA World Cup and was a key figure behind Fiorentina’s run to the final in the UEFA Conference League.
It seems like the midfielder is ready for a move to a top club this summer window with the player being linked with FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Newcastle United.
Now, Liverpool have also entered the race for Amrabat and may advance their interest in the coming weeks for the player. Barcelona’s name would be the most worrying for us, given their need to replace Sergio Busquets and the clout they carry in the transfer market.
While the club has signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion, there is scope for at least one more top-quality midfielder to join our ranks and make us a dominant force again.
While comparatively stacked in defence and attack, it was our midfield which turned out to be a big issue behind us missing out on a top-four finish and hence it is imperative to rectify that before heading into the new season.
Now, a list of players have been linked with the player recently with Lyon’s Marcus Thuram and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone all seen as viable targets. Amrabat would be a shrewd signing for the club having shown this previous season his ability to be able to play at the highest level.
For any top club, character is equally as important as talent and Amrabat could really turn out to be a very good replacement for Jordan Henderson, who has been an amazing servant to the club and it does feel like the end of the road for the player.
It certainly would not be an easy task acquiring the signature of the Moroccan with many top clubs interested but the charm of Anfield holds a big value in almost every player’s eye.

The coming weeks will provide us with a better idea of the direction the club is going to take in their search for a top-quality midfielder. Amrabat, 26, won’t be a bad shout if we need competition for Fabinho.
