Jordan Henderson net keen on Al-Ettifaq transfer from Liverpool
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is not keen on moving to Saudi Arabia and joining Al-Ettifaq in the ongoing transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.
The Saudi Pro League outfit recently appointed Anfield great Steven Gerrard in their dugout. To that end, the Merseyside icon wants to reunite with the 33-year-old at the Dammam-based club this summer.
However, the England international does not want to move to the Middle East as things stand. Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also being eyed by the former Aston Villa head coach.
Liverpool signed Henderson in the summer of 2011 from Sunderland. Over the years, he has been a key player in the Red’s starting lineup. However, he was often seen as a utility player at most in the past.
But in recent seasons, the English national has established himself as a cult hero at the Anfield side. The midfielder has captained us to the Champions League and the Premier League titles.
However, the 33-year-old’s age seems to have caught up to him as of late. In the previous campaign, the Mersesiders struggled for consistency, with the engine room faltering.
Fabinho arguably had his worst season at Liverpool in the 2022/23 term. We were also unable to rely on Thiago Alcantara a lot due to his constant injury issues. The Spaniard’s fitness is a cause for concern.
Henderson did not have the best of campaigns either. However, we have lost James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain this summer.

Despite the addition of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, it would still be wise to keep a hold of the England international due to his wealth of experience and leadership skills. The 33-year-old is also a decent option to maintain quality in depth in our squad.
