Chelsea have offered long-term contract to Liverpool target Levi Colwill

In what is a significant blow to their pursuit of Levi Colwill, Liverpool learn that Chelsea have apparently offered a new long-term contract to the 20-year-old centre-back.

Colwill, who spent the entirety of last season on loan at Brighton showed his exceptional abilities at The Amex, thereby attracting interest from Liverpool. The Reds, in fairness, could do with defensive reinforcements with growing concerns

over the form and availability of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez. Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Colwill’s situation via his Twitter (X) account.

“Negotiations are taking place in these hours for Levi Colwill’s new contract — Chelsea have improved their proposal and want to make it happen. Talks will continue, Chelsea confident. They always described Levi Colwill as ‘untouchable’. Not for sale.”

David Ornstein has since stated that Colwill is set to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge that will extend his stay at the club until at least the summer of 2029. That’s it then. Liverpool can forget about the Englishman for now.
