Liverpool are not in the race for Serie A star on Manchester United radar

Liverpool are not interested in Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat

As per one of the Liverpool correspondents David Lynch, Liverpool are not interested in signing Fiorentina midfielder and Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat this summer.

There was a report in the Daily Mail suggesting that the Reds would hijack United’s attempts to sign the Moroccan international. But, it seems like that was just fake news.

Or maybe just like the Moises Caicedo situation, Amrabat’s agent is trying to use Liverpool’s name in the market to force United to speed up their process.

Liverpool have been linked with a plenty of defensive midfielders since they missed out on Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea.

Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure is probably their top target although the Eagles will not be interested in selling the Mali international unless a replacement is found so late in the window.

The Reds are in the process of completing the arrival of Wataru Endo from Stuttgart. Although he is a defensive midfielder who can play in central defence, Jurgen Klopp could do with one more addition in that department.

Coming back to Amrabat

, while he had an exceptional World Cup where we saw his full range as a number six, he plays for a side in the Serie A. The difference in intensity between games in Italy and England is a lot. Defensive midfield is all about reading the game and controlling the tempo for the team.

As much as Amrabat is very good at what he does, Liverpool are probably right in not chasing his signature. They could do with someone who has Premier League experience.

For that reason, getting Doucoure would make a lot of sense even though he may be overpriced in the current market. Time is running out and the Reds have to get their act together.
