Robbie Fowler will have a word with Mohamed Salah to not leave Liverpool for Saudi

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has claimed that he will have a word with Mohamed Salah to make sure he does not leave the club amidst interest from Saudi Arabia.

A few days ago, it was revealed that Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad are plotting a move for the Egyptian king. But, those rumours were quickly put to rest by the player’s agent via Twitter. He talked about the player being committed to the cause at Anfield.

But, we know anything can happen in football. Looking at how Saudi clubs have operated in the market, it would not surprise us if they come up with an irresistible offer for Salah, either now or next year. Fowler thinks he needs to have a word with the forward about this. Here’s what the legend said (h/t talkSport, via Liverpool Echo):

“I’ll put in a word for him to stay. I want him to stay at Liverpool.

“But good players will always get linked here because this country and this Pro League wants good players and that’s the simplicity of it.”

So, even though he said he will have a word, there is little hope that the player would stay if an offer that cannot be refused comes, isn’t it? That’s the nature of the beast! It is highly believable that Saudi would want to bring a player who has been the face of the Arab footballing world for the past six years.

Salah at Liverpool has not just shone Egypt’s image, but the whole Arab world. They might want to pay him back with a gigantic financial offer. And we all know any earning in that country is tax-free.

So, let’s enjoy the 30-year-old as long as he is at Anfield. Would not bet against him leaving the club next summer. The key here is that the club must realise this happening and plan for the replacement as soon as possible. For that reason maybe we are seeing links with PSV’s left-footed right winger Johan Bakayoko.
