Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister admits his teammates tease him about his special bond with manager Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has lifted the lid on his special relationship with manager Jurgen Klopp since making a move this summer.

The Argentinian star, who made the move from Brighton and Hove Albion to Anfield in the recent transfer window, revealed that he shares a strong and friendly bond with the German boss. He mentioned that his teammates jokingly tease him by calling Klopp his “dad.”

The 24-year-old has started in all five games of the club’s 2023-24 Premier League season. The Reds signed the South American talent as a direct starting XI replacement for Jordan Henderson. The player has since shined, and although he hasn’t shown his best form yet, he has been working hard on the field.

Mac Allister recently stated that he is pleased to work with Klopp and that he is very “charismatic” around his players. While speaking to Spanish outlet La Nacion (h/t Liverpool Echo), the midfielder said:

“But many of my classmates blame me because they say that he is my dad now. The relationship with him is perfect, he is a very charismatic person, who always tries to be close to the players. He has crazy moments that you might see in a game and you can’t stop laughing. For me it is a pleasure to be able to work with him.”

Klopp is known for his friendly interactions and celebrations with his players, and this has been evident in his relationship with Mac Allister since the midfielder’s arrival.

It appears that the 56-year-old’s efforts to build strong connections with his players have gone a step further with the Argentinian star, as noted by his teammates. Klopp’s approach has been instrumental in getting the best out of his signings.

The former Brighton star has clearly made a significant impact both on and off the field for his new club this season. If he continues to contribute as a consistent player, he has the potential to be a fan favourite at Anfield.

During the recent international break, Mac Allister played for Argentina in two matches, including one played at high altitude against Bolivia. His performance in the Reds’ game against Wolves seemed to be affected by these international fixtures, as he was substituted in the second half for being fatigued.
