Player News: Up-and-coming starlet signs new Liverpool contract

Liverpool youngster Ben Doak’s impressive rise at Anfield continues as he puts pen to paper on a new contract

As revealed by the club’s official website (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool have extended the contract of their promising winger, Ben Doak, with a new long-term deal. This comes just 10 months after he previously signed his last contract with the club.

The Scottish star, who joined the Reds from Celtic for £600,000 in 2022, has experienced a rapid ascent within the club’s ranks. Despite being only 17 years old, he has progressed through various age groups and has made six

appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s first team, albeit as a substitute.

He is expected to receive more playing opportunities in his second season with the Merseyside club. Liverpool’s decision to offer him a new long-term contract shows their confidence in the young attacker, who also represents the Scotland U21 national team.

Less than a year ago, Doak signed his professional contract, a three-year deal finalised in November. However, since the player is still under 18, he cannot commit to a contract exceeding three years. It’s possible that this new contract will take effect on his birthday.

In any case, he will receive better contractual terms that mirror his role in Jurgen Klopp’s senior squad, and there’s a good chance he will make his debut in the Europa League.

In their Group E opening match, Liverpool are set to face LASK, and there is a possibility that the manager will include the No. 50, in the starting lineup.

Doak did not join the U21s squad for the EFL Trophy match against Morecambe on Tuesday night, as he had plans to travel to Austria. During the Reds’ pre-season preparation, the Scottish star played in all of the friendly matches, scoring a header in the 4-0 win against Leicester in Singapore.

The youngster has consistently been part of the English giant’s matchday squads, and now that he has secured his long-term contract with the club, he is eager to gain more opportunities and exposure with the senior team.
