As revealed by the club’s official Twitter handle, Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has been named in the EA Sports FC Team of the Week after tumbling down several records this weekend.
The Reds secured a 3-1 away victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, mounting an impressive comeback with two late goals. This result placed them in the third spot of the Premier League standings. Talking about the player with a huge impact on the game, Salah, delivered two exceptional assists.
The Egyptian star began with 199 goal contributions for Liverpool. He assisted Cody Gakpo and Andrew Robertson, increasing his total goal involvement for the club to 201. With this, he became just the second player to reach 200 goal involvements for the Merseyside club after club icon Steven Gerrard.
The 31-year-old also set an all-time assist record by an African player after taking his tally to 63 in the Premier League, one more than former Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez.
This was enough for him to get his place in the EA Sports Team of the Week. He rightly takes the wing spot and will be joined by Barcelona ace Robert Lewandowski and AS Roma ace Paulo Dybala as the two main strikers upfront.
Salah has been showered with a remarkable 90 speed skill rating, followed by an 89 rating for both shot and drift. His passing could have been given a much higher rating considering the fact that he provided those two pinpoint assists last weekend. Nevertheless, he achieves an overall rating of 90, which is well-deserved.
Breaking records has been a usual business for Salah, and this has brought immense benefit to Jurgen Klopp this season. Liverpool’s unbeaten start to the season was once again supported by the former Serie A star’s pivotal role.
His consistent performances are continually proving the club’s wise decision in turning down a huge offer from Saudi Arabia for his services. Wolves must be getting tired of facing Salah, as he has now 10 goal contributions for Liverpool against them.
While Klopp has various attacking choices this season, the experienced winger remains a constant presence in the team, excelling in scoring, assisting, and even displaying remarkable physicality.
