“I will get there”- Alexis Mac Allister says he is yet to improve one thing at Liverpool

Liverpool’s new summer signing Mac Allister admits difficulties at new club

World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister had a positive start to his Liverpool career but admitted that he still struggles to understand teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones.

The Argentinian midfielder joined Liverpool from Brighton this summer in a £35m deal

. In an interview with GOAL’s YouTube channel, Mac Allister revealed one difficulty he’s encountered at Anfield.

The 24-year-old made a fantastic debut in the Reds’ 1-1 draw against Chelsea, securing an 88 percent pass accuracy (46/52). However, he got sent off with a red card in his home debut for Liverpool against AFC Bournemouth which was later rescinded.

Argentine ace Alexis MacAllister is a great signing for Liverpool this summer.

The midfielder admitted he still struggles to understand teammates Alexander-Arnold and Jones due to their Scouse accents.

“No (not picked up any Scouse slang) still no,I think I need to improve my Scouser (sic) sometimes I cannot even under[stand] Trent (Alexander-Arnold) or Curtis (Jones) but I will get there, I will get there!”

Mac Allister has quickly adapted to manager Jürgen Klopp‘s intense playing style and become a key cog in Liverpool’s midfield along with fellow new signing Dominik Szoboszlai. The Argentinian has started in 4 of Liverpool’s 5 matches so far in the Premier League. But conversing with his heavily Scouse-accented teammates Alexander-Arnold and Jones remains difficult.

While the local lingo is a work in progress, Mac Allister has impressed with his quality and work rate in midfield for the Reds. After winning the World Cup with Argentina and securing European qualification for Brighton last season, he is eager for more success at Liverpool.

Mac Allister acknowledged he still has much to learn but is relishing playing under one of the world’s top managers in Klopp. With time, he hopes to master both the Scouse dialect and Klopp’s heavy-metal football style.

The early signs are positive for Liverpool that their new midfield orchestrator can help bring trophies back to Anfield. Once Mac Allister grasps the Scouse accent, communicating with teammates like Alexander-Arnold and Jones will help build even more chemistry. But for a foreigner, his English is already pretty solid.
